The 4th Regional Inter-University Postgraduate Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (RIUPEEEC 2006) was held, on 13 and 14 July, in the International Library of the University of Macau (UM). Over 110 papers had been accepted, with a total of 12 Certificates of Merit being awarded. Among these awards, three are for the following papers from UM, namely, “Novel timing-skew-Insensitive, multi-phase clock generation Scheme for parallel DAC and N-path Filter” (by Sai-Weng Sin, supervisors – Professor Rui Martins and Professor Seng-Pan U), “Design of a 1-V 10-bit 120-MS/s Current-Steering DAC with Transient-Improved Technique” (by Ka-Hou Ao Ieong, supervisors – Professor Rui Martins and Professor Seng-Pan U) and “Comparison Study of Three-Phase Four-Wire Active Power Filters” (by Ning-Yi Dai, supervisors – Professor Ying-Duo Han and Dr. Man-Chung Wong).
RIUPEEEC aims at giving postgraduate students in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and its related fields a forum for exchange of ideas and at encouraging further cooperation among the universities in the Asia Pacific Region. Moreover, universities from Taiwan helped organize the conference for the first time this year, constituting a valuable opportunity for mutual exchange in the future development of EEE and enhancing the internationalization of Macao.
RIUPEEEC 2006, held by UM and by IEEE Macau Section, had been jointly organized by UM, City University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University of China, Xi’an Jiaotong University of China, National Cheng Kung University and National Chiao Tung University of Taiwan. It had been fully supported and sponsored by IEEE Macau Computer Chapter, IEEE Macau Joint-Chapter CAS/COMM, Macao Foundation, Macau Government Tourist Office, CEM, IEE Hong Kong and IEEE Hong Kong Section.
