The Office of Sports Affairs of the University of Macau (UM) held the 2025-2026 UM Sports Awards Presentation Ceremony to recognise outstanding student athletes and thank donors for their support of the sports scholarships. This year, UM awarded a total of MOP 510,000 in sports scholarships to 12 student athletes and 14 sports teams. In addition, 13 student athletes were awarded full or half-tuition scholarships under the UM Outstanding Student-Athletes Award Scheme, and 19 most valuable athletes received scholarships.
Speaking at the ceremony, UM Rector Yonghua Song thanked donors for their support of the university’s sports development and acknowledged the dedication and contributions of the coaches and student athletes across all sports teams. He noted that, as of April 2026, UM’s sports teams had won a total of 87 gold, 72 silver, and 61 bronze medals in the 2025/2026 academic year.
Notably, a total of 704 UM sports volunteers supported the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games which were held in Macao last year. Rector Song and Vice Rector Mok Kai Meng awarded certificates of recognition to the volunteers.
During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to 34 coaches, 57 team captains, vice captains and assistants, and 63 loyal athletes. Certificates of recognition were also presented to 46 students who demonstrated outstanding performance in the Train the Trainer Programme, the Sports Affairs Internship Programme, and the Sports Volunteer Programme.
