Students from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), recently won the top three prizes in both the group category and the individual category, in the university category of a paper airplane longest airtime contest in Macao. The FST received the Best Organisation Award.

Organised by the Macao Innovation and Invention Association, the event attracted more than 200 students from 33 schools in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

At the longest airtime (group) contest, the FST Team A, formed by Lao Chi Fai, Ma Ieng, and Chan Ngai Hang, won the first prize; The Shiu Pong College-Stanley Ho East Asia College-Cheong Kun Lun College Team, formed by U Kin Lok, Sio Pak Lok, and Lei Hin Chon, won the second prize; and the FST Team B, formed by Lu Chang, Iong Sam I, Tang Choi I, won the third prize. 

At the longest airtime (individual) contest, Ma Ieng, who won the second prize at the 2015 Red Bull Paper Wings, kept his plane in the air for 14.49 seconds. He broke the record of Macao and won the first prize. Lei Hin Chon and Chan Ngai Hang won the second prize and the third prize, respectively. Additionally, U Kin Lok won the second prize at a local aerobatic paper plane contest.
