The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) held the Career Fair 2013 on 21 February. This annual event aims to provide a platform for UM students and alumni to understand local and overseas job markets. This year, 19 high tech companies, public organisations and government departments exhibited at the fair. Prof Philip Chen, dean of FST; Prof Tam Kam Weng, director of government relations and industry liaison of FST; as well as representatives from participating companies and organisations officiated at the opening ceremony.

Prof Chen said in his opening speech that FST aims to provide high-quality degree programmes to nurture more science professionals for Macao, and FST attaches great importance to collaborating with various organisations in Macao, as well as the student’s career development.

Prof Tam Kam Weng indicated that FST always works closely with the industry. In recent years FST is committed to reforming its undergraduate curriculum in order to educate outstanding graduates. Four bachelor degree programmes, including the internship programme, have received accreditation from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering. Meanwhile, FST encourages students to participate in different academic and industrial research and training activities to contribute to technological and engineering development of Macao and the world.

This year’s career fair included career talks, recruitment booths and an interactive session, a new feature aimed at strengthing interaction between students and exhibitors.

(CEM), Consultoria e Projectos Internacionals, Lda, Control Automation Limited, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Honeywell (Macau) Limited, ISACA (Macao Chapter), Johnson Controls HK Limited, Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), Langdon & Seah Macau Limited, Melco Crown Entertainment, Otis Elevator Company (HK) Limited, Ove Arup & Partners, Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP), Spark Design and Engineering Company Limited, Sun Hung Yip Engineering Construction Company Limited, Top Builders Group Limited, and Transportation Infrastructure Office (GIT).
