Who would have thought that something as mundane as the Nine Dragon Wall, which we breeze past unnoticed every day, has the potential for serving as a theatre stage during the 12th Macau City Fringe Festival? Five members of UM’s Drama Society obviously saw the extraordinary in the ordinary everyday detail, and on the afternoon of 25 November, they gave an environmental theatre entitled “Series of New Space Fantastique — City, University, We”, in which they helped the audience to see the familiar stairs with fresh eyes. Ivan, vice president of the drama society, says that the Nine Dragon Wall is a very special place for members of the Drama Society to express what they think and feel about the university and Macao as a whole, especially given the university’s imminent relocation to the new campus and the landmark status of the Nine Dragon Wall.
