Lately, 120 students from the Gaming and Hospitality Management Programme of the Faculty of Business Administration, the University of Macau (UM), and the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), participated in a one-day programme in Macao. The programme was designed to give students a practical insight into the development and operations of the casinos in Macao.

The students visited various tourist sites to get a better understanding of the tourism industry in Macao, listened to the talk about the operation and planning of the mega-resort complex given by the senior executives from The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel at the Adelson Advanced Education Centre (AAEC), and had a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes gaming operations.

UM has been partnering with CUHK’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management for some years, and this was the second year of collaboration between the two universities. Under the agreement, UM will provide lectures to the students from CUHK’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management and vice versa. The goal of the Gaming and Hospitality Programme of UM is to become a leading institution on gaming and hospitality education and a key platform in the region for related tourism and hospitality research. It is working in strategic partnership with the industry and other regional and international educational institutions.
