A delegation led by Mariana Seoane, vice rector of the University of the Republic (Uruguay), visited the University of Macau (UM) today (7 November). Rui Martins, vice rector of UM, warmly received the delegation on behalf of the rector. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on campus development, academic discipline development, and potential collaboration.

During the meeting, Martins presented UM’s history and development, its vision for the campus in the Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the prospects for the integrated development of various disciplines on the second campus. He expressed hope that this visit will create more opportunities for cooperation in student exchange and scientific research.

Seoane spoke highly of UM’s achievements and gave a detailed overview of the history of the University of the Republic (Uruguay) and its experience in international cooperation. She expressed a desire to sign a memorandum of understanding and a student exchange agreement with UM, as well as to deepen cooperation in teaching, research, and talent development across the fields of humanities, science, engineering, and medicine, thereby promoting international academic exchange. The delegation also visited Lui Che Woo College to gain an understanding of the operating model of UM’s residential college system.
