Yonghua Song, rector of the University of Macau (UM), led a delegation to the National University Biomedical Technology Transfer Center (Nanjing, Jiangsu). During the visit, the UM delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the centre’s practices in areas such as innovation of mechanisms, external cooperation, talent management, industry-academia collaboration, commercialisation of research results, project incubation, and legal regulations and systems.
The UM delegation was warmly received by Director-General Jiang Yong and Deputy Director-General Yang Shubing of the Jiangsu Education Department. At a meeting between the two parties, Gao Jianxin, director of the Higher Education Institutions Science and Technology Development Center of the Jiangsu Province, presented the centre’s advantages in terms of its platform, services, policies, and talent. Song said that UM places great importance on industry-academia collaboration and has set up the Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office and the Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute, with the aim of promoting knowledge transfer and the commercialisation of research results while serving Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The visit provided UM with valuable insights to further promote the commercialisation of research results and support the establishment of a national university technology transfer centre in Macao. Song also expressed hope that UM will engage in in-depth exchanges with the centre in future, working together to contribute to the implementation of the country’s innovation-driven development strategy.
