The University of Macau (UM) is accepting applications from mainland Gaokao students for its undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year. Eligible students can apply online through UM’s official website from 6 May to 26 June.
With the approval of the Ministry of Education, UM independently conducts admissions process for students in 31 mainland provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions. This process is separate from the nationwide college admissions scheme. Applying to UM’s undergraduate programmes does not affect students’ applications to mainland universities. In addition, UM does not work with any institutions or agencies to handle student admissions and enrolment in mainland China. Students must complete their applications online through UM’s official website.
To be eligible, applicants must achieve the minimum score required for admission to first-tier universities (or special admission schemes) in the 2025 Gaokao, and score at least 110 points in English. UM will select students based on their Gaokao scores and the number of available programme places. Top Gaokao scorers may qualify for UM’s full scholarship (covering full tuition and accommodation fees). Furthermore, UM offers special scholarships for Gaokao students from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and provides bonus points for Gaokao students from Beijing, Guangdong, Zhuhai, and those who live and study in Hengqin.
