Fourth‑year students from the Department of Communication of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the University of Macau (UM) have launched their graduation project, UM Bridges Fall 2025—Two as One: Piecing Together Macao and Hengqin. Centred on the theme of a ‘puzzle’, the publication explores a new chapter of in‑depth cooperation between Macao and Hengqin through four chapters and more than ten real‑life case studies, highlighting the latest developments in the integration of the two places.

Wang Yixin, editor‑in‑chief of the publication and a fourth‑year student in the Department of Communication at FSS, explained that the project likens Macao and Hengqin to two interlocking puzzle pieces—Macao representing 400 years of Chinese and Western cultural heritage, and Hengqin driven by its innovative environment and efficient customs clearance policies—highlighting their complementary and mutually beneficial development. Liu Yuting, chief designer and a fourth‑year student in the department, added that the cover design incorporates distinctive landmarks of both places to symbolise their integrated development, reflecting the blend of historical charm and modern vitality as well as the ongoing integration of culture and everyday life.
