Recently the University of Macau (UM) invited President of the National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taiwan, Dr. Se Hwa Wu, to share experience in residential colleges and general education. Dr. Wu noted at the lecture that a residential college (RC) should be more than just a dormitory; it should provide learning experiences beyond undergraduate studies. He added that NCCU’s RCs aim to produce creative “whole persons” through a liberal arts education that integrate RCs and general education. He disclosed that the greatest challenges faced by NCCU in the future include developing RCs into a part of the general education curriculum and clearly identifying the role and function of RCs. During the Q&A session, UM’s top management and teaching staff actively asked questions, hoping to gain relevant experience.
