A delegation led by Li Ming, secretary of the Party Committee of Ocean University of China (OUC), visited the University of Macau (UM) on 14 May and was warmly received by Yonghua Song, rector of UM. The two parties held discussions on deepening academic exchange and promoting innovation in regional ocean development, with the hope of exploring new opportunities for cooperation in regional ocean and establishing an ocean research platform between Macao and Hong Kong.
Song said that UM is committed to nurturing talent that can leverage Macao’s strengths and serve the country’s needs. He said that OUC is a key strategic partner of UM. The two universities have a long-standing history of cooperation in student and faculty exchange and scientific research, and initiated the establishment of the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Ocean Research Alliance. Song expressed hope that the visit would serve as a catalyst to further integrate resources and strengthen cooperation in ocean science and technology, as well as joint talent development.
The delegation also toured the University Gallery and the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City to gain insights into UM’s campus development, research strategy, and cutting-edge technological achievements. They spoke highly of the university’s educational achievements and research capacity.
