The University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk titled ‘Rock Mechanics and Engineering in China: Development and Challenges’ on 8 May (Friday), as part of its University Lecture Series. He Manchao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), professor at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and director of the State Key Laboratory for Tunnel Engineering, will be the speaker. During the talk, Prof He will discuss the major challenges faced by China in rock mechanics and engineering research under extreme and complex geological conditions, such as those found in the Himalayas. He will also present the latest breakthroughs and developments in relevant theoretical frameworks, equipment, and engineering technologies.
The talk will begin at 11:00am in the Multi-function Hall of the UM Guest House (N1-G014), and will be conducted in Mandarin. All are welcome to attend.
