The University of Macau (UM) held an inauguration ceremony for the 14th cohort of UM Reporters and the 16th cohort of PR Student Ambassadors (PRSA) on 22 April. A total of 55 students were inaugurated, while 20 students were awarded certificates in recognition of being among the ‘Top 10 Outstanding UM Reporters’ or the ‘Top 10 Outstanding PR Student Ambassadors’.

UM Vice Rector Mok Kai Meng attended the event, along with heads and representatives from faculties, residential colleges, and administrative units, as well as alumni. In his speech, Mok highlighted the importance of both the UM Reporter Programme and the PRSA Programme in developing UM’s campus culture. Over the past decade and more, the two programmes have trained over a thousand students from a variety of disciplines to act as a bridge between the university and the outside world. He also encouraged the new cohort of UM Reporters and PRSAs to flourish through practical experience and share UM’s stories.

During the ceremony, Mok presented press passes and name badges to the new cohort of UM Reporters and PRSAs, while Katrina Cheong, director of the UM Communications Office, presented certificates to the ‘Top 10 Outstanding UM Reporters’ and the ‘Top 10 Outstanding PR Student Ambassadors’. UM Reporter Yaya Fan and PRSA Sammi Tai, as well as former members of the two programmes, shared their experiences and takeaways from the programmes.
