The University of Macau (UM) hosted the UM Career and Internship Fair 2026 today (1 April). The fair brought together over 110 companies and organisations from Macao and the Chinese mainland, representing 28 industries and providing students with employment and internship opportunities. The university also organised a series of career guidance activities to support graduating students in their job search.
Speaking at the event, UM Vice Rector Mok Kai Meng thanked the participating companies. He emphasised that UM is actively advancing the construction of its campus in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin in support of the national 15th Five-Year Plan and the Macao SAR government’s ‘1+4’ strategy for economic diversification. Five science and technology faculties will be established on the new campus, and the university will operate under a ‘dual-campus’ model to facilitate interdisciplinary innovation, research, and talent development.
According to the Further Studies and Employment Survey of UM’s 2024/2025 graduates, more than 85% of graduates had secured employment or were pursuing further studies within three months of graduation. The top five industries in which graduates were employed were: education (17.4%), banking, finance and insurance (13%), entertainment and gaming (13%), trade, wholesale and retail (13%), and architecture and engineering (7.8%). Those who continued their studies attended renowned universities in countries and regions such as the UK, the US, Australia, Singapore, the Chinese mainland, and Hong Kong.
In addition to local companies, this year’s UM Career and Internship Fair featured several renowned enterprises from the Chinese mainland, providing more diverse employment opportunities for students from different academic backgrounds. The university also organised a series of career guidance activities, including the Career Training Workshops, the ‘Resume Clinic’, and mock interview sessions, to help graduates prepare for the job market.
