The University of Macau (UM) recently participated in the Annual Presidents Meeting on Building World-Class Universities. Organised by Fudan University, this year’s event attracted the heads of 14 universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, UM, and the Macau University of Science and Technology, who joined the event either in person or virtually. At the seminar, UM Rector Yonghua Song gave a presentation on the role of UM in building an international centre for technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In his speech, he said that UM would grasp the opportunities brought by the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and expressed hope to strengthen collaboration between UM and top mainland universities in the zone. The Annual Presidents Meeting on Building World-Class Universities was jointly initiated by nine top mainland universities, with the aim of promoting higher education development in China. This is the first time that UM has joined this meeting.
