The University of Macau (UM) and the United Nations University Institute in Macau (UNU Macau) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). According to the MOU, both parties will establish a long-term partnership to strengthen collaboration in the training of professionals and exchange activities, based on the principles of mutual benefits, in order to promote the development of continuing education in Macao. The MOU was signed by Matthew Liu Ting Chi, director of UM’s Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), and Huang Jingbo, director of UNU Macau.

According to Liu, academic exchange and collaboration between Macao and mainland China have never been closer. Strengthening exchange and training activities for students between the two places will help them make unique contributions to the reform and modernisation of society. The CCE attaches great importance to education, with the aim of creating appropriate conditions for young adults to grow and succeed.

According to Huang, UNU Macau places an emphasis on equipping youth with knowledge in technology that they will need to thrive and become a positive force for change. The institute looks forward to working closely with UM in the training of professionals to create a secure, equitable, and   sustainable digital future for all.
