The University of Macau (UM) Department of Portuguese on 9 November invited four outstanding alumni to share their experience with students. The four alumni were José Wong, acting director of the DSEJ’s language promotion centre; Vanessa Lam, translator of the Macao Cultural Heritage Committee; Flávio Wong, interpreter at the Legislative Assembly; and Inês Feng, deputy director of the Centre for International Exchange and Collaboration, Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co Ltd. They discussed the roles they play in promoting the Portuguese language and culture and the economic collaboration between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. They also talked about the study and career choices for Portuguese majors. The event attracted over 100 students of Portuguese studies.
