Prof Zhao Guoqiang from the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Law recently received the Outstanding Textbook Award at the National Award for Outstanding Academic Books on Criminal Law (1984-2014), for his book Summary of Macau Criminal Law (Introduction to General Theory of Crime).
Organised by the China Society of Criminal Law, the award is open to faculty members of universities, members of legal research institutions, as well as legal professionals from national legislative bodies, administrative departments, judiciary bodies, and community legal services organisations. Awards are divided into two categories, the monograph category and the textbook category.
This year, 37 books were selected by the selection committee through a secret ballot, in accordance with the relevant regulations and the principle of “quality before quantity”. In the monograph category, 12 works received the first prize and 21 received the second prize. In the textbook category, four textbooks received the Outstanding Textbook Award.
