The 18th Cantonese Debate Invitational Tournament for Hong Kong and Macao College Students took place at Macau Tap Seac Square last Saturday. The topic of the debate was "swimming contests should not ban high-tech swimsuits”. The CUHK Debate Team was on the affirmative side and the UM Cantonese Debate Team was on the negative side.
The competition was very exciting with both sides firmly standing their grounds. Through several rounds of fierce competition, UM Debate Team finally defeated its opponent at 2：1, with its Second Speaker Fong Pak Weng winning the “Best Debater Award” due to outstanding performance. After the competition the two sides shared debating skills with each other.
