The University of Macau (UM) Department of Portuguese will hold the Portuguese Language Day at UM on Friday 9 May, in Auditorium II of the university library on the current campus.
The Portuguese Language Day will include a roundtable session on the topic of “Portuguese language and cultural diversity”, which will begin at 10:00am. Prof. Helena Buescu from the University of Lisbon, Portugal; Prof. Laura Padilha from Fluminense Federal University, Brazil; Prof. Kenneth David Jackson from the University of Yale, United States; and Prof. Carlos Ascenso André, director of the Portuguese Teaching and Research Centre, Macao Polytechnic Institute, will participate in the roundtable session.
At 3:00pm, there will be a series of student presentations, which will include a short drama, poetry reading, and singing.
The day will conclude with a Gastronomical Lusophone Festival for students in the Recreational Area.
