Taoism is one of major constitute philosophies in Chinese culture, which has subtle but profound influence on daily life of Chinese people. “Following nature” is considered the central concept of Taoism and used by predecessors in Kung Fu. “Following nature” and “Striking for a balance between Yin and Yang” are not unfamiliar to most Chinese people, and probably some non-Chinese populations in the world. In this summer vacation, PJCers take this opportunity to visit Wu Dang Shan, the origin of Tai Chi Kung Fu, and stay there to study Tai Chi Kung Fu for a week. After completing the Kung Fu training, all the PJC learners were awarded a certificate issued by Master Chan at Wu Dang. The PJC study team left Wu Dang Shan on 13th June.

The team also visited the peak of Wu Dang Shan, the Golden Temple, which was given by an Emperor of Ming Dynasty. The Golden Temple has been built at the peak of Wu Dang for 600 years, and kept very well. All the PJCers in the team were surprised by the long and proud history of Wu Dang, the beautiful architecture, and the wisdom used in building.

This trip to Wu Dang was organized by a PJC student Chan Xin Bill, who is major in Chinese Language and Culture. He loves studying Chinese Culture and Kung Fu, so as he has contributed his talents in leading and organizing interest clubs like Chinese calligraphy and Tai Chi Class during last academic year. He also gave his Chinese calligraphy to the PJC’s stall in the Chinese New Year Bazaar 2012.
