On 20 April 2026, China launched the inaugural National Reading Week, with the aim of promoting nationwide reading and building a book-loving society. In response to this national campaign, the offices of the secretaries of the Macao SAR government mobilised their respective departments to organise a series of activities. A key focus of these activities was the promotion of authoritative publications, including The Outline for Studying the Overall National Security Outlook and the white paper titled ‘China’s National Security in the New Era’. Reading materials on national security also forms a central component of the National Security Education Series Activities. This encourages people from different sectors of the community to learn about national security and build broad consensus on safeguarding national security.
