The Faculty of Law (FLL) of the University of Macau (UM) held a legal forum, where Zhao Guoqiang, a renowned criminal law scholar and adjunct professor in FLL, gave a talk on Macao’s system for safeguarding national security. The talk attracted an audience of students, faculty members, and legal professionals.
The forum was moderated by Jiang Chaoyang, director of the UM Centre for Constitutional Law and Basic Law Studies. During the talk, Prof Zhao gave an overview of the development of Macao’s national security system, and examined the implementation of the Law on Safeguarding National Security and its supporting regulations. He said that Macao should strengthen its enforcement mechanisms, refine its legal framework, and raise public awareness. He also noted that the recent passage of the bill for the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Macao SAR is a significant milestone in strengthening Macao’s legal framework for national security.
