The Second SPA Fest, organised by the Sports Association of the University of Macau Students’ Union (UMSU), kicked off last Saturday. The opening ceremony attracted a lot of students.

Building on the success of last year’s SPA Fest, the UMSU Sports Association hopes to provide more opportunities this year for UM members to participate in sport during the one-month festival. Their ultimate goal is to make every November into the month of sport for UM members.

This year’s festival features a new event, the cycling tournament, which is one of the activities recommended by Roberto Chan, president of the UMSU Sports Association, ‘We borrowed a cycling system which allows our students to experience the various factors which can interfere with athletic performance,’ he says.

The opening ceremony was followed by an exciting basketball exhibition game between the UM Basketball Team and the Macau Iao Cheng Basketball Team.

The SPA Fest will last until 29 November. During this period, there will be a variety of events in football, basketball, badminton, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, squash cycling, canoeing, and dragon boating. Moreover, there will be exhibition games and opportunities to experience the different sports.
