The University of Macau (UM) and the South China University of Technology (SCUT) have signed an agreement on the launch of a ‘2+2’ joint undergraduate programme, which will initially cover two disciplines, civil engineering, and telecommunication. This will be the first dual degree programme in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is expected to serve as a good example of how universities in the Greater Bay Area can explore a new path for collaborative innovation in education. The admission process for the joint programme is expected to start in 2020. All registered undergraduate students currently studying at UM or SCUT are eligible to apply. Upon completing the first two years of study at either institution, students in the programme will study at the other university for another two years. They will receive bachelor’s degrees from both universities upon completing the programme.
