Bai Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), recently visited the University of Macau (UM). During the visit, he praised the university for its rapid development and research achievements in recent years. Members of the delegation were warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song, who told the guests about UM’s unique academic programmes and education model as well as its research blueprint. Bai hopes to learn more about the current progress of the research projects conducted by the joint laboratories between UM and the academy and enhance collaboration between the two institutions in order to make a greater contribution to science and education in China. The guests also toured UM’s campus on Macao’s first autonomous bus and visited the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, as well as two laboratories jointly established by UM and the CAS, in the fields of brain and cognitive sciences as well as artificial intelligence and robotics, respectively.
