The University of Macau (UM) will hold a lecture titled ‘A Gentle Introduction to AI Creation’, on 7 December (Monday), as part of its University Lecture Series. The speaker, Dr Harry Shum, is an expert in artificial intelligence, a renowned computer scientist, a foreign member of the National Academy of Engineering of the United States, an international member of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery in the US, and a former executive vice president of Microsoft. During the lecture, Dr Shum will discuss the basis of AI creation by drawing on Microsoft’s experience in developing its AI robot Xiao Bing. He will also talk about the three guiding principles of AI creation and other issues that arise from AI creation.

The lecture will be held on 7 December in the University Hall (N2). It will begin at 3:30pm, and will be conducted in Mandarin, with simultaneous interpretation into English. All are welcome.
