The University of Macau (UM) kicked off the 13th Healthy University Week today (18 November).

At the opening ceremony, UM’s Acting Rector Rui Martins said that UM attaches great importance to the physical and mental well-being of its faculty, staff and students, adding that the Healthy University Week aims to raise awareness about health, safety, and environmental protection among UM members.

Today’s activities included an award presentation ceremony for the 21-Day Fruit & Veggie Challenge, a first-aid certificate presentation ceremony, a performance by Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College’s cheerleading team, and warm-up exercises. Other activities that will take place during the Healthy University Week include a workshop on Chinese medicinal diet and another on houseplant potting, a film about environmental protection, and free onsite influenza vaccination. As the law on the restrictions of the provision of plastic bags in Macao came into force today, participants also learned more about this law.
