A graduation ceremony for participants of the one-year Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering Programme, jointly offered by the University of Macau (UM) and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), was held on 5 June 2019. At the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to 14 graduates.

Officiating guests at the ceremony were Prof Rui Martins, vice rector (global affairs) of UM; Mr Bernie Leong, chairman of the Executive Committee of CEM; Prof Matthew Liu, director of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of UM; and Mr Keegan Cheang, director of the Human Resources and Sustainability Department of CEM.

Prof Matthew Liu expressed his appreciation to CEM and all the trainers for their support and coordination, adding that the CCE will continue to support the training of local engineers to help prepare them for the various challenges in the future.

In Mr Keegan Cheang’s speech, he indicated that the collaboration between CEM and UM on this programme began in 2014, with the aim of enhancing the students’ professional knowledge in electrical engineering, improving their career development opportunities, and developing a competent workforce to support the long-term development of Macao. He also thanked all the parties concerned for their support to the programme.
