Seven students from the University of Macau’s (UM) Youth Association of International Affairs (YAIA) received four awards at Donghua Model United Nations Conference held in Shanghai. Headed by Song Weiqing, an associate professor from the Department of Government and Public Administration, the student team won a Best Position Paper, an Honorable Mention Award, a Most Potential News Agency Awards, and a Best Position Holder Award. During the three-day event, the students participated in mock meetings on various topics, including economy, human rights, and security. General-consuls and diplomats of many countries, including Australia, Cuba, the Czech Republic, and the Philippines, participated in this year’s event. Donghua Model United Nations Conference is one of the largest and most influential model UN activities in China. UM was the only university from Macao to participate in this year’s event.
