The University of Macau (UM) Swimming Team recently broke 5 records and won 12 golds medals, 10 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals at a local inter-varsity swimming championship.

18 members of UM’s Swimming Team participated in the two-day competition, which was held at the Macau Olympic Aquatic Centre. Chao Man Hou, a second-year student from the Faculty of Social Science (FSS); Tam Chi Yan, a third-year student from the FSS; and Lei On Kei, a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Education, won gold medals with record-breaking performances in four categories of the competition, namely men’s 50-metre freestyle category, men’s 50-metre breaststroke category, women’s 50-metre butterfly stroke category, and women’s 100-metre breaststroke category.

In addition to individuals awards, Tam Chi Yan, Lei On Kei, along with FED student Choi Weng Tong, and FSS student Li Bojie also won a record-breaking gold medal in women’s 4 x 50-metre freestyle relay category.
