At the 17th National University Fencing Championship held in Guangzhou from 1 to 8 November 2011, UM’s Fencing Team competed with more than five hundred athletes of thirty-five contesting teams from different provinces and won numerous awards, including a second runner-up in the Women Individual Sabre Grade A category, a first runner-up in the Men Group Sabre Grade A category, a second runner-up in the Men Group Foil Grade C category, a second runner-up in the Women Group Epee Grade A category, and individual and group sportsmanship awards.
