UM team wins the second best prize at

the “Sai Bo Le” Cup Entrepreneurial

Competition for University Students 2011

A team from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), University of Macau (UM), won the second best prize at the 2nd “Sai Bo Le” Cup Entrepreneurial Competition for University Students.

The entrepreneurial competition was held by the Hangzhou municipal government in Hangzhou. It aims to identify the most promising entrepreneurial projects. This year’s competition attracted 1,943 teams from 334 universities around the world, such as Cambridge University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, the City University of Hong Kong, and Feng Chia University, Taiwan, etc.

The UM team consists of five students, namely Wu Yanchen, He Gelun, Cao Shaoyi, Lin Yufan, and Liu Yuanyuan and was led by Dr. Jie Wu, the assistant professor of FBA.

Under the guidance of Dr. Wu, the team worked tremendously hard on positioning and refining the business model. They also spent numerous hours honing the presentation skills. The concise business statement, precise customer definition, enticing value proposition, innovative products, and excellent presentation as well help the team successfully beat contestants from various world-renowned universities and was finally awarded the second best prize.

Other winning teams include Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Cambridge University and Feng Chia University, etc. The prize reflects the excellent teaching and research of UM and represents a small, but essential, step towards the goal of nurturing business leadership and entrepreneurship for the future Macao.
