During the winter break, students and parents from various places joined study tours to visit the University of Macau (UM). During their time at UM, they explored different parts of the campus, took photos, and learned about the university’s education model, campus environment, and comprehensive facilities. The visits also gave them the opportunity to experience UM’s vibrant academic environment and unique campus culture first-hand.

With a campus open to the public year-round, UM has become a popular destination for study tours in recent years. Its international education model, multicultural campus environment, and distinctive residential college system have attracted widespread attention from educational institutions, schools, and students across the country. Many study tour groups include UM as a key stop when visiting higher education institutions outside the Chinese mainland, in the hope that it will help students gain a deeper understanding of the university’s education model and the potential pathways for further study.

A secondary school in Guizhou Province organised a visit to UM for its outstanding students. As well as taking part in exchange activities with their sister school in Macao, the students were particularly excited about visiting UM. According to the teachers, the visit gave the students the opportunity to experience the academic environment and campus culture of a leading university first-hand. It also broadened their horizons, opening their minds to new possibilities in their studies and personal development.

Furthermore, some students joined study tours organised by overseas education agencies to visit universities in Macao and Hong Kong. Among them, Zhang, a secondary school student from Liaoning Province, is particularly interested in UM. During the visit, he took the initiative to learn about the university’s admission requirements. He said that he was impressed by the peaceful and tranquil campus, as well as its vibrant academic atmosphere. He also expressed hope that he will have the opportunity to study at UM in the future.

A primary school from Zhejiang Province also included UM in their study tour to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Guo, a student with a passion for English, expressed keen interest in studying at UM after learning that the university’s medium of instruction is English. She believes that studying in such an environment will help her improve her English proficiency.

To cater to the diverse needs of visitors and provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the university, UM offers a variety of campus tours and related services. The ‘A Day at UM’ campus tour is available for groups of ten or more by appointment. The campus tours are available Monday through Saturday, with two sessions per day, each lasting about 1.5 hours. Led by PR Student Ambassadors, visitors can explore the University Gallery, the UM Library, residential colleges, and other facilities. Visitors can also take part in games to win souvenirs, and gain first-hand experience of university life. The tours are conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English. Additionally, UM offers the UM Audio Tour, which is also available in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Apart from visiting UM in person, individuals from around the world can explore the university’s campus and facilities via the 360° Virtual Tour website and video tours. In addition to attracting students from around the world, UM regularly hosts a variety of cultural and artistic events, including talks, exhibitions and concerts, providing the public with a space for cultural engagement and intellectual exploration.
