The University of Macau (UM) has launched the e-book Regarding Books, a collaborative project between the UM Wu Yee Sun Library and the Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. The e-book features 67 items from the exhibition Regarding Books previously held at the UM Museum of Art. The exhibits include manuscripts, woodblock-printed books, lithographs, modern printed books, and maps in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, Portuguese, and French, spanning from 1491 to the late 20th century. Through this collection, readers can appreciate the distinctive charm of ancient Chinese and Western books, as well as the boundless possibilities of books as art.

The publication explores the themes of truth, goodness, and beauty underlying the dissemination of knowledge. It interweaves stories of Macao connected to the collection and, through perspectives such as image, text, technology, and art, reveals the human dimension within the transmission of knowledge. The content is organised into six chapters: Intersection of East and West; Spread of Western Learning to the East; Exchange of Languages; Transmission of Cultural Heritage; Dissemination of Customs and Traditions; and Condensed Essence of East and West.

Richly illustrated, the e‑book also includes eight related videos that readers can view alongside the text, creating an engaging and immersive experience. The e-book is available at: https://libdigital.um.edu.mo/redirect/um_digital/991010536377106306
