The ‘UltiMater 2025 – The 4th UM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition’ opened today (15 December). The event brought together nearly 100 small and medium-sized enterprises from Macao, including start-ups incubated by the University of Macau (UM) and the top 12 entrepreneurial teams from this year’s ‘Bank of China Trophy UltiMater Entrepreneur Competition’. The exhibition aims to promote technology transfer by linking university research with industry partners, help Macao SMEs adopt new technologies, expand high-tech collaboration, and jointly promote the development of Macao’s technology sector and other emerging industries.

Under the theme ‘fostering a diverse ecosystem through academia-enterprise integration’, this year’s UltiMater exhibition was hosted by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at UM, supported by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, co-organised by UMTEC Limited and the Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute, and sponsored by Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A.

At the opening ceremony, Xu Jian, vice rector of UM, highlighted that the UltiMater exhibition showcases UM’s achievements in innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration. She added that the event supports Macao’s industrial upgrading and economic diversification while seeking high‑tech partners to boost its competitiveness.

The ceremony also marked the launch of CIE’s ‘Health+’ Accelerator programme, which focuses on the ‘big health’ industry and integrates resources from various sectors to accelerate the commercialisation of research results.

The exhibition also included keynote speeches and roundtable discussions led by industry leaders and experts, as well as a project roadshow highlighting outstanding UM start-ups.
