The closing ceremony for the first qualification course for government division heads, which was jointly organised by the University of Macau (UM) and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) of the Macao SAR government, was held on 5 November. A total of 29 participants were awarded certificates of completion.
The event was attended by Wong Sio Chak, secretary for administration and justice; Chang Cheong, chief of the Office of the Secretary for Administration and Justice; Leong Weng In, director of SAFP; Chan Sok Cheng, deputy director of SAFP; Yonghua Song, rector of UM; Shui Bing, head of the UM Public Administration Training Centre (PATC); and Kong Wa, associate head of PATC. During the ceremony, Leong and Song presented the certificates to the participants.
Wong congratulated the participants who had completed the course and encouraged them to apply their knowledge and skills acquired to their work while maintaining a proactive and responsible attitude. He also emphasised the importance of communication, public opinion, and collaboration across departments, among colleagues, and with the public. Shui said that UM actively supports the SAR government in providing training for management-level civil servants and established PATC in 2019. He also encouraged the participants to pursue their aspirations and commit to lifelong learning.
