The plaque presentation ceremony for the Guangdong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Modular Chip Design and Testing took place on 4 November. The joint laboratory, which was led by the University of Macau (UM), received a plaque from the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) of Macao and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. The event marks another step forward in the cooperation between Macao and Guangdong in the field of integrated circuits, as well as the integration of Macao’s technological innovation system into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
During the ceremony, U U Sang, president of the Administrative Committee of FDCT, and Wang Yueqin, director-general of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, both delivered speeches. In the presence of UM Rector Yonghua Song, Mak Pui In, director of the Guangdong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Modular Chip Design, received the plaque from U and Wang.
A meeting was also held on the same day, which brought together representatives from the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, FDCT, and UM to engage in in-depth discussions on ways to strengthen technological cooperation and exchange between Macao and Guangdong. Song said that UM will continue to strengthen its research collaboration with Guangdong Province, leveraging the joint laboratory to drive technological breakthroughs and talent development in the field of chip design.
