The 2025 Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance (JHMUA) Annual Meeting and Presidents’ Forum was held at the University of Macau (UM) today (31 October). The event brought together representatives from universities in Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macao to discuss inter-university cooperation, resource sharing, and open exchange.

In his welcome speech, UM Rector Yonghua Song, speaking on behalf of UM as the first vice president institution of JHMUA, said that the alliance has become an important platform for promoting cooperation between the three places in science, education, research, industry, and academia. As a member of the alliance, UM is committed to integrating its multicultural background, international education model and resources, and collaborating with other member institutions to build an inclusive network and promote higher education exchange and cooperation across the regions. He expressed hope that the event would strengthen cooperation between universities in the three places in areas such as cultural transmission, talent development, research and innovation, and community service, allowing them to leverage their respective strengths for mutual development.

The Presidents’ Forum featured three discussion sessions, one of which was moderated by Song. Representatives of member institutions shared their views on how universities in the three places can achieve innovative development through openness and inclusivity.
