The University of Macau (UM) is hosting its Fourth Festival of Chinese Culture to promote traditional Chinese culture and foster an atmosphere conducive to its inheritance on campus and in the local community. The festival comprises a series of activities designed to educate students about traditional Chinese culture, spark their interest in Chinese history and culture, and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.
The Fourth Festival of Chinese Culture is organised by UM, under the guidance of the Department of Publicity and Culture and the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the Macao Foundation, as well as the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR government. It is presented by the Centre for Chinese History and Culture of UM and the Macao Base for Primary & Secondary Education in Humanities & Social Sciences.
The Festival of Chinese Culture showcases a blend of traditional and modern elements, reflecting Macao’s unique cultural heritage. The festival features a series of warm-up activities and competitions in October, with the key activities taking place across the UM campus, UM’s base for the promotion of Chinese history and culture, and its partner units in November and December. In addition, the key activities are divided into three categories: 1) lectures, promotional and educational activities focusing on Chinese history and culture; 2) exhibitions, performances, and demonstrations showcasing Chinese history and culture; and 3) forums, seminars, and debates exploring Chinese and Macao cultures.
