A delegation led by Randal Martins Pompeu, rector of the University of Fortaleza in Brazil, visited the University of Macau (UM) on 22 August and was warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song and Vice Rector Rui Martins. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on issues such as academic collaboration and student and faculty exchange programmes, with the hope of establishing partnerships in these areas.
Song provided the delegation with a detailed overview of UM’s latest developments and outlined the plans and vision for the UM campus in the Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. He also highlighted UM’s commitment to cultivating high-level Chinese-Portuguese bilingual talent, as well as the fruitful outcomes of UM’s cooperation with Brazilian universities in teaching, research, and talent development. Martins expressed hope that, by cooperating with the University of Fortaleza, UM will further enhance its exchanges and cooperation with universities in Portuguese-speaking countries, thereby developing Macao into an international hub for high-calibre talent.
The delegation also visited the University Gallery and the UM Wu Yee Sun Library. They spoke highly of the university’s campus development and international environment.
