Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) of the University of Macau (UM) organised an exchange trip for its students and faculty to Yuanpei College of Peking University from 25 to 31 May. The trip aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of Chinese culture, strengthen cooperation between the two colleges, and celebrate their ten-year partnership.

The opening ceremony of the exchange activity took place at Yuanpei College of Peking University, where Wong Seng Fat, interim college master of CYTC, and Li Meng, dean of Yuanpei College, reviewed the achievements of the partnership between the two colleges over the past decade and discussed future cooperation.

During the exchange trip, the UM delegation toured the Peking University campus, attended several talks delivered by the university’s faculty members and invited speakers, and participated in a string of experiential activities. Zhu Tianshu and Lv Huanhu delivered a talk on Chinese ink painting, guiding students and faculty to appreciate works by renowned artists from different periods. Chen Jun gave a talk on the vocal style of Kunqu opera and analysed its unique features, leading students and faculty to appreciate its beauty. Chen Jiang delivered a science talk titled ‘Practical Skills and Challenges of AI’, where he reviewed the history of technological development and discussed current applications and future trends of AI.

The UM delegation also participated in a variety of cultural activities such as a guqin workshop, Chinese calligraphy and painting appreciation, and Kunqu performances. They also visited renowned cultural landmarks such as the Summer Palace and the Palace Museum. The activities and visits enriched their cultural experience and deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese arts and created lasting memories of the exchange trip.

The exchange activity was jointly organised by Gong Yingxue, associate master of CYTC, and Sun Feiyu, vice dean of Yuanpei College. It not only demonstrated the strong friendship between the two colleges but also opened a new chapter in their future cooperation. In August, Yuanpei College will send its students and faculty to visit CYTC. Both colleges look forward to strengthening their relationship over the next decade and beyond, and to creating a bright future together.
