To attract more international students to the University of Macau (UM) and promote campus internationalisation and diversity, UM Vice Rector Michael Hui joined a delegation led by the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government on a trip to Thailand to conduct student recruitment campaigns and participate in an international education expo. The delegation also visited local higher education institutions and educational organisations to enhance international cooperation between UM and Thai universities.

The Macao delegation visited Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s highest-ranked and oldest university, where they were received by its president, Bundhit Eua-arporn, and had discussions with representatives of the university. Hui said that UM and Chulalongkorn University have signed a memorandum of understanding and student exchange agreements to enhance academic exchanges. The two universities will strengthen cooperation in various fields to promote research collaboration and talent cultivation. The delegation also paid visits to the Chinese Teachers (Thailand) Association and the Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities. The Chinese Teachers (Thailand) Association signed a memorandum of understanding with seven Macao higher education institutions including UM to attract more Thai students to pursue higher education in Macao. During the visit to the Asian Institute of Technology, the delegation was received by its president, Yamamoto.

As part of their trip, the Macao delegation also participated in the OCSC International Education Expo, the largest annual international education exhibition in Thailand. UM set up a booth at the expo to showcase the university’s current developments and programme information, as well as to provide face-to-face consultation services to students and parents. In addition, the delegation visited Concordian International School in Bangkok to conduct promotional activities.
