A new cohort of the qualification course for government division heads, jointly organised by the University of Macau (UM) and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) of the Macao SAR government, commenced with an opening ceremony on 10 November. Wong Sio Chak, secretary for administration and justice; Yonghua Song, rector of UM; Chang Cheong, chief of the Office of the Secretary for Administration and Justice; and Leong Weng In, director of SAFP, attended the ceremony, along with 30 participants.

Song said in his speech that the course, organised by the UM Public Administration Training Centre, will guide participants in developing innovative and practical action plans through discussions, group research, and reports. He expressed hope that participants will contribute their wisdom and expertise to the SAR government’s public governance and to Macao’s integration into national development.

Leong said in her speech that the SAR government places great importance on the professional development of civil servants. The course will focus on enhancing participants’ competence in policy implementation, cross-departmental collaboration and crisis management, as well as leadership and team management. She expressed hope that with a broader perspective and enhanced capabilities, participants will lead their teams to improve administrative efficiency.
