In order to provide Macao citizens with an opportunity to experience Swissness, the Consulate General of Switzerland has organized a series of activities called “Switzerland greets Macao”. Among all activities, those held in cooperation with the University of Macau will commence since 16 November.

The organizers have named 16 November the “Swiss Day at UM”. A series of cultural, educational and business events, such as photo exhibition, seminar and film showing, will kick off on that day.

“Melody of Switzerland” will take place, during the period from 16 to 30 November, in the International Library of the University of Macau. In the event, there will be an exhibition of photographs by Tony Ho who is a travel writer in Hong Kong. His photographs demonstrate the Swiss landscapes. There will also be an exhibition of books from Switzerland. A selection of books on Switzerland in English, Chinese and Portuguese will be presented.

The “Presentation on Switzerland and the Swiss Education System” will be held in Room L105 of Luso-Chinese Building of the University of Macau, at 2:30 pm, on the same day. Johann U. Muller, Deputy Consul General of Switzerland, will share information on life and culture of Switzerland, Swiss higher education system, study and research opportunities, scholarships and visa application procedure.

With the assistance of the International Film Society of the University of Macau Students’ Union, the International Library of the University will show, on 16, 17, 21, 22 and 28 November respectively, at 6:00 pm, Swiss documentary films namely: “The Gotthard”, “The Way I Look at You”, “Not the Cops, Not the Blacks, Not the Whites”, “ID Swiss” and “Farewell my Mountain”.
