Organizer:

University of Macau

Objective:

The University of Macau (UM) is organizing an anthem lyrics material contest in order to review the developments over the past three decades, look ahead to new opportunities in the future, and enhance UM members' sense of belonging to the university. Winning entries may be developed into UM's school anthem with revisions as deemed fit.

Theme:

The material should reflect the unique history and character of the university, and should convey UM members' confidence in a more beautiful future of the university.

Target participants:

Those who are interested to participate in the contest can choose either of the following categories:

1) UM Student Group

2) UM Staff Group

3) UM Alumni Group

4) Open Group

Rules and Regulations:

  • All entries can be in Chinese, English or Portuguese.
  • Participants can submit as many entries as they like, provided that the entries are original works not previously published in any form. Submitters of plagiarized works shall be disqualified automatically.
  • The contest is open to individual and group entries
  • By participating in the contest, the participant agrees to accept the present rules and regulations as well as the final decisions of the panel of judges.
  • All rights to the entries, including without limitation to, intellectual property rights, right of use, right of modification, and right of authorship, shall belong to the organizer. The organizer also has the right to exhibit, publish or perform the winning entries in public.
  • Entries will not be returned. By participating in the contest, the participant agrees that the organizer has the right to use the entries for any non-business purposes as the organizer deems fit.
  • Winning entries will serve as the material for the university anthem and are subject to modifications by invited professionals.
  • The organizer reserves the right not to use any entries as the material for the university anthem.
  • Members of the organizing committee and the panel of judges for this contest may not participate in this contest.
  • The organizer reserves the right to interpret and modify the present rules and regulations. In case of any disputes regarding the contest results, the decision of the organizer shall be final.

Personal information:

  • Declaration about the participants' personal information

    i. The personal information of all participants shall be used solely for the purpose of this contest.

    ii. The organizer will keep the participants' personal information for a limited period of time, and has the right to use it for purposes directly related to this contest where necessary.

    iii. The participant has the right to access his or her personal information.

Prizes:

1 first prize for each group, with a cash prize of MOP 5,000

3 second prizes for each group, with a cash prize of MOP 3,000

5 third prizes for each group, with a cash prize of MOP 1,000
