To celebrate the 70th<\/sup>\nanniversary of the People\u2019s Republic of China and the 20th<\/sup>\nanniversary of the handover of Macao to China, the University of Macau (UM),\nSun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on\nSunday 12 May will hold a forum on the opportunities and challenges facing\nuniversities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in teaching and\nresearch collaboration. The forum will be open to the public. All are welcome.<\/p>

During the event,\nrepresentatives of member universities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao\nUniversity Alliance will discuss how to take advantage of each university\u2019s unique\nstrengths to enhance academic exchange, research collaboration, and\ncollaborative innovation. Luo Jun, president of SYSU; Rocky Tuan, vice-chancellor\nand president of CUHK; Yonghua Song, rector of UM; Yang Bin, vice president of\nTsinghua University; and Zhou Zuoyu, vice presient of Beijing Normal\nUniversity, will give keynote speeches.<\/p>

Established in 2016, the university\nalliance is currently comprised of 28 major universities in the Greater Bay\nArea. Members of the alliance can benefit from the \u2018One Country, Two Systems\u2019 policy\nand the opportunities brought about by the Outline of the Strategies for the\nDevelopment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area released by the\nState Council earlier this year.\n<\/p>

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>

The forum will start at 9:30\nam in the Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region in Beijing.\nRepresentatives of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office under the State Council,\nthe Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Technology will also\nattend the event.
