The\nFaculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) has\nofficially received the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation\nfrom the European Foundation for Management\nDevelopment (EFMD). With\nthe attainment of this prestigious accreditation,\nthe FBA now joins an exclusive group of business schools in the world that have\ngained accreditations from the three major international\naccreditation bodies: EQUIS in the European Union, the Association to\nAdvance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the United States, and\nthe Association of MBAs (AMBA) in the United Kingdom. There\nare only 116 triple-accredited\nbusiness schools in the world.<\/p>

 <\/p>

The\nFBA is the first and the only business\nschool in Macao to have received the EQUIS accreditation. Currently\nthere are 207 EQUIS accredited schools in 45 countries around the globe. 45 of\nthem are located in Asia and they include Peking University, Zhejiang\nUniversity, the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science\nand Technology, and the National University of Singapore.<\/p>

 <\/p>

According to UM Rector Yonghua Song, the attainment of the\nEQUIS accreditation by the FBA is of significant importance: \u2018First, with this\naccreditation, the FBA can better benchmark itself against international\nstandards and promote further development. Second, the FBA can offer more innovative\ncourses that are important to Macao\u2019s economic diversification as well as the\ndevelopment of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the\nGreater Bay Area, especially in the fields of finance, accounting, tourism\nmanagement, and data science. Third, the FBA can further improve its teaching\nquality and cultivate more outstanding professionals for Macao and China.\u2019<\/p>

 <\/p>

Reflecting on the journey of EQUIS\naccreditation, Prof Ge Wei, interim dean of the FBA, says: ‘The FBA has\npreviously attained accreditations from AACSB and AMBA. Gaining the EQUIS\naccreditation will further put the faculty on the map of the world’s top\nbusiness schools. It is a new start for our faculty.’<\/p>

EQUIS is the leading international system of quality\nassessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in\nmanagement and business administration. Institutions that are accredited by\nEQUIS must demonstrate not only high general quality in areas such as\nmanagement, teaching, and research, but also a high degree of internationalisation.\nWith the aim of providing an excellent framework for assessing quality in\nhighly diverse institutional and cultural contexts, EQUIS was created in 1997\nby a mandate of EFMD\u2019s member business schools, with the specific active\nsupport of business schools ranked among the top in Europe.<\/p>
