{"id":268956,"date":"2022-05-27T17:20:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T09:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mo\/news-and-press-releases\/press-release\/detail\/53725-2\/"},"modified":"2022-05-27T18:33:13","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T10:33:13","slug":"53725","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mo\/pt-pt\/news-and-press-releases\/press-release\/detail\/53725\/","title":{"rendered":"UM presents academic prizes to outstanding graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n                        \n                        <p>The\nUniversity of Macau (UM) today (27 May) presented 15 academic prizes to 61\noutstanding fresh graduates at the Academic Prize Presentation Ceremony 2022.<\/p><p>In\nhis speech, UM Rector Yonghua Song congratulated the students and thanked the donors of the academic\nprizes. According to him, with the tremendous support of the central\ngovernment and the SAR government, UM has been actively seeking breakthroughs\nin teaching and research in recent years and has developed into an\ninternational comprehensive public university with unique characteristics, strong\ncapabilities, and a rising reputation in the international community. To take\nits development to the next level, UM announced its new five-year development\nplan at the end of 2021. Having positioned itself as a university of and for\nMacao, the university will co-develop the Greater Bay Area, integrate into the\nnational development strategy, and increase its degree of internationalisation.\nIn the next five years, UM aims to become an internationally recognised\nuniversity of excellence through quality student-centred education,\ninternationally impactful research, and high-quality community service.<\/p><p>Iao Ka Lei, a fresh graduate\nof the Faculty of Education and the Honours College, who is also a recipient of\nthe Choi Kai Yau Academic Prize, says that her dream is to become a\nkindergarten teacher. In addition to learning a lot about early childhood\neducation, in her courses at UM, she received the opportunity to conduct mock\nlessons in front of her classmates, where she learned how to carry out classroom\nactivities smoothly as well as design better activities. She adds that\nprofessors at UM always encourage her and her classmates to think deeper and\nhave given them lots of useful advice, so that they can learn from their\nmistakes and put their knowledge into practice. She feels that this experience\nis invaluable in helping her and her classmates feel more comfortable when they\nteach children in a real-world setting.<\/p><p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>In the past academic year,\nthe university gave out over MOP 4 million in more than 60 kinds of academic\nprizes and scholarships to over 400 students. At the ceremony, 15 kinds of\nacademic prizes were presented, namely Macau Foundation Academic Prize, Henry\nFok Foundation Academic Prize, Bank of China Academic Prize, Luso International\nBank Academic Prize, ICBC Macau Academic Prize, MECOM Power &#8211; Hung Yip Group\nAcademic Prize, BNU Academic Prize, Akrostar Academic Prize, Choi Kai Yau\nAcademic Prize, Lou Tou Vo Mathematics Academic Prize, Jorge Alvares Foundation\nAcademic Prize, X Fintech Asia Academic Prize, LECM Academic Prize, ERS\nAcademic Prize, and MIL Law Office Academic Prize.<\/p><p><\/p><table style=\"width:
